STLWEST Training Requirements

Umpires seeking STLWEST-wide eligibility must complete official STLWEST requirements when registration is available.

All PYA home umpires may be required to complete a written open-book rules test.

PYA Umpire Pay Scale

  • 1st Year: $30/game
  • 2nd Year: $35/game
  • 3rd Year: $40–$50/game
  • 4th Year+: $50–$60/game

Raises are performance-based and not automatic.

Required Gear & Volunteer Credits

Required umpire gear is the umpire’s responsibility. PYA may offer approved volunteer credit opportunities that can be used toward umpire gear through the official PYA store.

Required items may include a light blue umpire shirt, gray pants, black shoes, umpire hat, ball bag, indicator, plate brush, and appropriate protective gear.

Primary Park, Other Parks & Pay

  • Umpires work as 1099 independent contractors.
  • PYA pay applies only to games worked at PYA.
  • Other STLWEST parks may honor experience but use their own pay scales and procedures.
  • Park-specific procedures may vary.

Can I still umpire at PYA?
Yes. PYA may onboard local-only umpires directly.

Does Pack the Park replace STLWEST certification?
No. It is a local PYA training and onboarding tool.
Can PYA use STLWEST umpires from other parks?
