PYA follows STLWEST standards for lightning, heat, and cold. Umpires may pause for immediate safety concerns and should contact UIC/board support.
Escalation chain: Plate Umpire → Field Umpire → UIC → Board Member. All warnings and incidents must be documented.

Mentorship is required for the first two years of umpiring. Mentors support rule knowledge, confidence, positioning, and professionalism.
Evaluations are mandatory and may affect placement, advancement, scheduling, training needs, and pay review eligibility.
