PYA Treasurer
The Treasurer oversees the financial health of Pacific Youth Association (PYA). This role focuses on
stewardship, transparency, and accountability
—ensuring funds are managed responsibly, records are accurate, and the board has clear visibility into PYA’s finances.

Purpose of the Role
The Treasurer ensures PYA’s financial resources are safeguarded and used in alignment with the organization’s mission and approved budgets. This role supports informed decision-making by providing accurate, timely financial reporting to the board.
Primary Responsibilities
1) Financial Oversight & Stewardship
Oversees PYA’s financial accounts and transactions
Ensures funds are used in accordance with board approvals and policies
Promotes responsible, ethical financial practices
2) Budgeting & Planning
Leads development of annual budgets with input from the board
Monitors budget performance and flags variances
Supports long-term financial planning and sustainability
3) Financial Reporting
Provides regular financial reports to the board
Ensures reports are clear, accurate, and easy to understand
Answers financial questions to support board decisions
4) Payments, Deposits & Controls
Oversees payment processing, deposits, and reimbursements
Maintains appropriate financial controls and approvals
Helps prevent errors, misuse, or financial risk
5) Compliance & Recordkeeping
Maintains accurate financial records and documentation
Supports audits, reviews, and required filings
Ensures compliance with nonprofit and tax requirements
6) Transparency & Board Support
Promotes transparency through clear financial communication
Supports the board in understanding financial impact
Helps build trust through consistency and accuracy
Role Boundaries
The Treasurer does not unilaterally approve expenditures, set policy alone, or manage program operations. Financial decisions are made by the board, with the Treasurer providing oversight, reporting, and guidance to support responsible outcomes.
